The part nobody explains

What “seamless” actually means

Flat aluminium coil goes through a roll-former on the truck and comes out as one continuous gutter, cut to the exact measurement of your wall. It is carried up and hung in a single piece. That is the photograph on the right, and it is the whole idea.

The alternative is sectional gutter, sold in ten-foot lengths and joined every ten feet. Every one of those joints is a seam, every seam is sealed with caulk, and caulk has a service life. A forty-foot wall gets three seams that will eventually weep down your siding.

On a seamless run the only joints are at the corners and the outlets, where they belong.

Where we work

Six counties, two states

Based in Equinunk, Wayne County, on the Pennsylvania side of the Upper Delaware. We cross the river constantly, so the New York side is home territory too.

Pennsylvania

Wayne County

Home ground. River valley and ridge, log and cedar, metal roofs and a lot of second homes under heavy hardwood.

Pennsylvania

Pike County

Pocono lake country. Big gated communities under pine and hemlock, where the wrong guard is worse than none.

New York

Delaware County

Western Catskills. Farmhouses, barns and converted camps, with a long cold season that makes ice dams a real problem.

New York

Sullivan County

The Upper Delaware corridor and the Monticello side. Riverfront cabins, lodge builds and a lot of short-term rentals.

New York

Orange County

Hudson Valley proper. Village colonials with mature street trees, and newer subdivisions with long roof valleys.

New York

Ulster County

Shawangunk ridge and eastern Catskills. Stone and masonry that stains badly when a gutter overflows.

Straight answers

Questions we get asked

What does seamless actually mean?

A seamless gutter is formed on site. Flat aluminium coil runs through a roll-former on the truck and comes out as one continuous length cut to your exact wall measurement. Sectional gutter, the kind sold in ten-foot lengths, is joined every ten feet, and every joint is a seam that will eventually work loose and leak. On a seamless run the only joints are at the corners and the outlets.

Do gutter guards actually work?

The right guard works. The wrong guard is worse than no guard at all.

Broad leaf cover needs something different from pine and hemlock, because needles are fine enough to pass straight through cheap screen and then pack solid underneath where you cannot reach them. That is why we pick the guard at the property, looking at what is actually overhanging the roof, rather than off a price list.

What are snow guards, and do I need them?

Snow guards are small retainers fixed to a metal roof that hold snow in place so it melts off gradually instead of letting go all at once.

On a standing seam or ribbed metal roof a full load can release in a single sheet. That tears gutters off their hangers, and it is genuinely dangerous over a doorway, a walkway or a parked vehicle. If you have a metal roof in this region, they are worth having.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Twice a year suits most properties here, once after leaf fall and once in spring. Under heavy hardwood or pine it can be more.

Second homes and rentals are the ones that get caught out. An overflow can run for months before anybody sees it, and by then the fascia behind the gutter has started to go.

Which towns do you cover?

We work out of Equinunk in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, and cover Wayne and Pike County in Pennsylvania plus Delaware, Sullivan, Orange and Ulster County in New York.

There is a town checker at the top of this page. If your town is not in it, it is still worth calling, because we travel.

Are you insured, and do estimates cost anything?

On Point Gutters is fully insured, and estimates are free. We come out, measure, look at the roof and the tree cover, and give you a price with no obligation.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Alongside houses, camps and second homes we work on storefronts, offices and commercial buildings. Commercial runs are usually longer and often need a larger gutter profile and more downspout capacity than a house.
